This stunning, hand-made, white-gold
Voutilainen Vingt-8R watch is in mint condition and has perfect mechanical functionality. This special timepiece is part of a limited edition of
25, made entirely at the
Voutilainen workshop in
Môtiers, near
Geneva.
It has three different engine-turned patterns on the silver dial. Each pattern reflects light differently, giving the dial a mixture of tones and fantastic depth. An asymmetric power-reserve, applied
Arabic numerals and blued-steel
Breguet hands add a further layer of complexity to this classic piece. On the subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock, the “
VOUTILAINEN” cartouche is discretely positioned. Our
La Rochelle navy blue calfskin strap and
Kari Voutilainen's signature tear-shaped lugs finish off this rare interpretation of the
Vingt-8; showing both the watchmaker's uncompromising attention to detail and craftsmanship.
This
V-8R is just as impressive inside the case; the sapphire crystal on the reverse allows for an uninterrupted view of the movement, revealing the rich palette of hues and forms. The in-house, modified
Cal. 28 is made from German silver and titanium, with frosted finishing throughout.
Through the combination of a a free-sprung balance with
Breguet over-coil and a
Grossmann interior curve, and the signature direct impulse escapement with two large (13.6mm) escapement wheels, a high degree of engineering ingenuity is accomplished. One of the hallmarks of
Voutilainen as a manufacture is their superlative hand-finishing; with expert anglage and a mixture of polished, brushed and frosted surfaces, the aesthetics of the movement is as impressive as the mechanics. The watch has a 50-hour power reserve.
This limited edition,
V-8R piece comes as a full-set, with its original box and papers. The watch comes on our
La Rochelle grained calfskin strap, as well as its original black alligator strap (short length) from
Kari Voutilainen.
