The Patek Philippe reference 5320G was first introduced in 2017, as the latest chapter in a legacy of great perpetual calendars. The 5320G harks back to much admired Patek Philippe perpetual calendars of the 1950s', displaying syringe-shaped hands (reminiscent of the unique steel perpetual calendar reference 1591), with an off-white dial, applied luminous, white-gold Arabic numerals and additional luminous dots at each hour, to match the hands – sized at a contemporary 40mm.
The 5320G has a glossy, cream-coloured lacquered dial with two, uniform apertures for the day and month, and a moon-phase display and date array at six o'clock. The dial is classically understated, balancing the outer-minute track perfectly. The watch displays four hands - hours, minutes, and seconds for the time, with the date indicator at six. Overall, the dial layout is cleanly designed, with two discrete windows showing the leap year and day-and-night indicators, respectively, on each side of the moon.
Inside the watch, the 5320G movement is based on the calibre 324, with centrally-mounted, 21-carat solid-gold rotor. The calibre 324 S Q (’S’ for seconds, ‘Q’ for quantième perpétuel) serves as a refined perpetual calendar version of the self-winding 324. The watch features Patek Philippe's Gyromax balance and Spiromax balance spring (in Silinvar), and the case itself is actually a monobloc construction, stamped from a single piece of gold. The case again draws inspiration from Patek Philippe’s extensive archive (much like the dial), with three-tier ‘claw’ lugs (now seen on the 5172G).
As with all contemporary Patek Philippe watches, it has the Patek Philippe seal, guaranteeing its accuracy to -3 and +2 seconds daily, keeping time better than the industry benchmark chronometer grade movements. The movement is beautifully finished, with exquisite chamfering on all angles, polishing and decoration, in the form of Geneva striping.
This example comes as a full-set, with an original Patek Philippe, chocolate brown, alligator strap; Patek Philippe white-gold deployant and its accompanying box and original paperwork.
Viewings can be arranged in Central London by appointment.
