This elegant silver objet d'art was made by Ravinet d’Enfert, famed silversmith located in Paris, for Hermès. This is an excellent specimen of the period and possesses the signature Art Deco style that the smiths were known for.
Made by renowned Parisian silversmith Ravinet d'Enfert for Hermès Paris, this wine taster is refined and elegant in design. The silver case features an engine-turned pattern, with a small circle on the inner base kept bare, usually reserved for owners to monogram their initials onto. The soldered handle on the back of the pot, allowing it to hold the taster to the mouth, has a design reminiscent of Hermès’ equestrian origins. On the outer section, the manufacturer's hallmarks and "Hermès Paris" are neatly displayed.
Hermès needs no introduction. The French luxury goods manufacturer’s history dates back to 1837, when Thierry Hermès first established a harness workshop in the Grands Boulevards quarter of Paris, dedicated to serving European noblemen. Over its history, Hermès has been known as a destination for individuals of refinement and discernment, seeking articles of exclusive design and high quality.
Whether used for its original function by a wine lover, or repurposed for alternate use as an ashtray or catchall, we hope that the refined decadence of this silver Hermès objet d'art will endure.
If sold within the United Kingdom, this vintage Hermès tastevin will be subject to 20% VAT.
